Smith County is one of the best kept secrets in Tennessee. Being centrally located between Nashville and Cookeville gives it the benefit of quiet, country living with easy access to metropolitan amenities.

Imagine for just a moment waking up and looking out of your home at the rolling hills and beautiful Tennessee landscape. As the fog gently rises out of the hollows and off the water, the deer are out playing, the turkeys leave their roost, then you stop and realize the only sound you hear is the morning birds singing and the only thing you smell is fresh air. You think to yourself how fortunate you are to live in such a quiet, serene place and still have metropolitan amenities at your convenience. This is the piece of mind that comes from making Smith County and middle Tennessee your home.

Smith County is very fortunate to have fantastic schools, up to date medical facilities and great job opportunities. The county has two high schools, a new middle school and six elementary schools. Every school in the county has recently been remodeled. It also has two hospitals, both of which are owned and operated by Sumner Regional Hospital. The industrial park in Gordonsville has several factories and job opportunities. Interstate 40 passes through Smith County and offers an easy drive to other job markets in surrounding areas.

Smith County has what can only be described as awesome recreational opportunities. Cordell Hull Lake offers great fishing and boating activities. The Defeated Creek camp ground, park, and marina are ranked in the top 5 of government run campgrounds in the nation. The Cumberland and Caney Fork rivers both run through the county. The Caney Fork is one of the best trout fishing rivers in the southeast. The state record rock fish, weighing in at 65lbs., was taken out of the Cordell Hull Lake in Smith County. Hunters and wildlife watchers alike love it here because deer, turkey and wildlife in general abound in this region.
